Kapiri Mposhi Council Chairperson Visits Mushimbili Mountains Amid Growing Gold Rush

Kapiri Mposhi Council Chairperson, His Worship Mr. Brilliant Munyeke, has visited Mushimbili Mountains following reports of increasing numbers of residents gathering at the area in search of alleged gold deposits.

The Council Chairperson, accompanied by officers from the Zambia Police Service, visited the area to assess the situation on the ground, engage with residents and gain a better understanding of the developments surrounding the reported gold discovery.

According to the Council Chairperson, the number of people travelling to Mushimbili Mountains appears to be increasing daily, with many residents hoping to benefit from the alleged gold deposits.

Mr. Munyeke acknowledged the excitement among residents, noting that many people are looking for opportunities to improve their livelihoods. However, he stressed that activities in the area must be conducted in a lawful, orderly and safe manner.

He warned against disorder, illegal activities and behaviour that could put people’s lives at risk.

Following the visit, the Kapiri Mposhi Town Council, working together with the Zambia Police and other relevant government institutions, is expected to engage the community and establish a clear framework for managing activities at Mushimbili Mountains.

The Council Chairperson has further urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding while authorities verify the reports and determine the appropriate way forward.

Residents have also been advised not to put their lives at risk by rushing into the area before proper guidance is provided by the relevant authorities.

KPM Online will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

God bless Kapiri Mposhi.
