A farmer from Kalomo District has won K634,053.60 on betPawa after placing a bet of just K1.

Clever placed the 14-leg bet on a Friday night in late August, selecting matches from the Japanese league — a bet his wife initially laughed at.

“My wife was laughing at me because it was a silly bet,” Clever said. “I bet on Japanese league matches, so even the selections were not conventional.”

All 14 selections won.

The bet returned K409,065.84, while the betPawa Win Bonus added another K224,986.76, representing a 55 percent boost and taking his total winnings to K634,053.60.

Clever was not following the matches at the time. He only learnt of his win the following morning while working in his field after receiving a call from betPawa’s customer service team.

His brother, who was standing beside him, initially thought the news was fake.

“He said it was a lie, that it was fake,” Clever said.

To prove the win was real, Clever withdrew K4,000 from his account. Once the money arrived, the brothers began celebrating.

Clever says part of the winnings has already been spent on fertiliser and other farming supplies as the family prepares for the winter maize season.

“It has come at a good time because we are starting to prepare for the next farming season,” he said.

The family is also considering adding another tractor to their farming operations.

“People think this is fake, but it is real,” Clever said. “Bet small, and you never know what could happen.”

According to betPawa, its Win Bonus is added to qualifying winning multi-bets and increases depending on the number of qualifying selections, up to 1,250 percent. Every selection must win for the bet to pay out.

You have to be 18 years and above to bet. Betting is addictive and can be psychologically harmful.
