Government has challenged state owned national telecommunications firm, Zamtel to align itself with the Grow Zambia Agenda.

Ministry of Technology and Science, Permanent Secretary, Brilliant Habeenzu urged the firm to participate in the agenda by extending reliable coverage to rural areas, deepening digital financial services and supporting the 24-hour economy.

Dr Habeenzu said the Grow Zambia Agenda cannot be achieved without inclusive digital technology and digital finance, commending Zamtel for demonstrating innovation.

He was speaking in Lusaka today during the launch of multiple Zamtel products which include Kongola Malaiti, Create Your Own Bundle and the upgraded My Zamtel App in addition to the advanced Zamtel Money App.

Dr Habeenzu described the products as a conversion of national connectivity gains into practical inclusion.

He applauded the firm saying its movement into digital platforms and financial services is part of the country’s economic architecture.

Meanwhile, Zamtel Chief Executive Officer, Jason Mwanza hailed collaboration with the firm’s subsidiary, Zamtel Money to ensure that innovation is achieved.
