TAYALI SLAPS MULENGA SUPPORTER OUTSIDE COURT

Losing Ndola Central MP Frank Tayali this afternoon slapped a supporter of First Respondent Emmanuel Mulenga outside Courtroom 1 as the court was in session presiding over his election petition.

According to the victim, (whose identity has been withheld), Tayali followed him outside the courtroom and slapped him in full view of police officers and other witnesses who were waiting to be called to testify.

When the matter was brought to the attention of the court by the First Respondent’s lawyer, Judge Chanda summoned the police officer who witnessed the incident. The officer proceeded to explain to the court, in full view of the parties and witnesses, what had transpired outside the courtroom.

The Judge subsequently cautioned Mr Tayali against confronting witnesses for the First Respondent and warned that he could be required to leave the court premises for the remainder of the proceedings if such conduct continued.

The victim has since reported the matter to police.
