COPPERBELT Province Police Commissioner Rae S. Hamoonga has bid farewell to the media as he takes up a new assignment at the Zambia Police Training School in Lilayi.

In a farewell message dated Oct. 19, 2026, Hamoonga expressed gratitude to members of the media in Copperbelt Province for the support, cooperation and professional relationship during his tenure.

“It has been an honour and privilege to work with you in promoting public safety, enhancing information sharing and keeping members of the public informed on matters of law enforcement and security,” Hamoonga said.

Hamoonga said he appreciated the media’s role in supporting the Zambia Police Service in fulfilling its mandate of maintaining law and order.

He urged the media to extend the same cooperation to his successor, Edwin Kaluba, who officially assumed office as Copperbelt Police Commissioner on Sunday.

Hamoonga encouraged journalists to continue working closely with the police service by reporting responsibly, verifying information and promoting balanced, accurate and timely coverage.

He said he leaves with fond memories and deep appreciation for the professional relationships built.
