The Anti-Corruption Commission –ACC- has opened seven investigations arising from the 2025 Auditor General’s Report, alongside five additional cases referred by the Financial Intelligence Centre –FIC- following its 2025 report.

Addressing the media in Lusaka this morning, ACC Director General Daphne Chabu says unresolved audit queries have declined from 33 in 2024 to 27 in 2025, although the figure remains a concern.

Ms. Chabu says suspected illicit financial flows highlighted in the 2025 FIC Trends Report have also declined from 3.5 billion United States dollars in 2024 to 1.8 billion dollars in 2025, representing a reduction in suspicious financial activity.

She says the ACC received six cases from the FIC in 2025, with one involving more than K2 million meant for the School Feeding Programme already resulting in the arrest of five people, including the Chama District Board Secretary and bank officials, for alleged corrupt practices.

Ms. Chabu says the remaining five FIC cases are still under investigation, emphasising that being mentioned in either report does not amount to a declaration of guilt, as the Commission must establish facts and gather evidence before taking action in accordance with the law.

She says previous investigations arising from similar reports have resulted in arrests and court prosecutions, adding that the ACC will continue pursuing the current cases.
