A RESPONSE TO THE REMARKS ON YOUNG MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT BY KBF.

We have noted the remarks by Zambia Must Prosper leader, Mr Kelvin Fube Bwalya, regarding the nomination of young people to Parliament

While we respect differing opinions, we believe that youth should not be mistaken for inexperience, nor should opportunity be reserved for those who have already held public office.

Through the Mixed Member Proportional Representation System, President Hakainde Hichilema has demonstrated confidence in the ability of young people to contribute to national development. This opportunity is not a reward to be taken for granted, but a responsibility that demands discipline, humility and hard work.

As young Members of Parliament, we recognise that we have much to learn from experienced leaders. However, we also bring fresh perspectives, energy and ideas that can complement existing experience for the greater good of our nation.

We are not in Parliament merely to occupy seats; we are here to serve, learn, contribute and deliver. Ultimately, our performance and commitment to the people of Zambia should determine whether this confidence was well placed.

We therefore welcome constructive criticism, but we urge the nation to give young leaders a fair opportunity to prove themselves through service and results rather than judge them solely by their age.

We thank President Hakainde Hichilema for entrusting young people with this responsibility. We do not take this rare privilege lightly.

The opportunity has been given. The responsibility is ours. The results will speak for themselves.

For God and Mother Zambia 🇿🇲

Hon Don Mwenda, MP
