Chisamba District Joel Mboyoma has disclosed that 10,000 out of 15,000 small-scale farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) have collected their agriculture inputs ahead of the 2026/2027 farming season in Chisamba district.

Mr Mboyoma further disclosed that more than 13,000 farmers have already made their deposits, out of a total of 15,416 farmers.

Speaking during the official opening of the Export Trading Group (ETG) Input Zambia outlet in Chisamba, Mr Mboyoma urged farmers who have not yet made their deposits to do so promptly to enable them to redeem their inputs.

“During the 2026/027 farming season a total of 15,416 farmers are set to benefit under FISP in the district and so far over 13,000 farmers have already made their deposits and about 10,000 farmers have collected inputs,” Mr Mboyoma said

He said the government would continue implementing FISP through the electronic voucher system to support farmers during the current farming season.

Meanwhile, Mr Mboyoma disclosed that 6,132 farmers in Chisamba District have been trained in climate-smart agriculture this year to strengthen their resilience to climate change.

He said the training, which is being conducted across agricultural camps in the district with support from the Zambia Growth and Opportunities Programme for Results (ZAMGROW), is aimed at equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to cope with the anticipated effects of El Nino during the 2026/2027 farming season.

” 6, 132 farmers have been trained in Climate smart agriculture in the district. The training aims to build resilience among farmers in the face of the 2026/2027 El Nino,” he said.

Mr Mboyoma said the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote climate-resilient agricultural practices and improve productivity among farmers.
