ZAMBIA SUGAR PLC. — JOB OPPORTUNITY: SHERQ OFFICER, FIRE & EMERGENCY RESPONSE 🚒🔥 Safety & Risk Department | Permanent Position Zambia Sugar Plc is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates to join its Safety & Risk Department at Nakambala Estate, Mazabuka. Position: SHERQ Officer, Fire & Emergency Response Company: Zambia Sugar Plc Location: Nakambala Estate, Mazabuka, Southern Province, Zambia Employment Type: Permanent / Full-Time Key Responsibilities: Lead, coordinate, and supervise fire safety, disaster management, and emergency response operations across factory, estate, and agricultural areas. Ensure full compliance with SHERQ policies, occupational health and safety legislation, and statutory safety standards. Conduct regular fire safety inspections, risk assessments, and maintenance audits on all firefighting equipment, hydrants, alarm systems, and emergency vehicles. Organize and deliver fire prevention drills, first aid training, and emergency preparedness simulations for employees and contractors. Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and safety breaches, producing comprehensive technical reports with corrective action plans. Maintain up-to-date emergency response procedures, safety files, and compliance records. Key Requirements: Full Grade 12 Certificate. Diploma in Fire Engineering, Risk Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field. SAMTRAC or NEBOSH qualification is required. Preferably 3 to 5 years of health and safety / fire response experience in a heavy manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural operational environment. Sound knowledge of Zambian occupational safety legislation, fire codes, and strong technical reporting skills. First Aid, fire prevention, and emergency response training is an added advantage. Relevant qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) where applicable.
