Job description: Job title: Finance Business Partner Site: Kansanshi Mining Plc (Lusaka Based) Department: Finance Section: Accounting Position reports to: Senior Finance Business Partner Purpose The position will be responsible to offer comprehensive cost accounting services to First Quantum Minerals Zambia Limited (FQMZ) and FQM Global Services (FQMGS) departments, enabling effective planning and control of costs within budget limits by monitoring, controlling and accurately ascertaining costs. This involves working closely with members of the management team to understand the risks & opportunities of the business. FQMZ and FQMGS provide support services to Zambia mining operations and the FQM global business. Key Responsibilities Required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function. Manage month end and year end closing processes, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely and accurate cost and financial reporting. Prepare reconciliation of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness, resolving anomalies or discrepancies identified during reconciliations. Preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with key business assumptions and strategic goals. Provide insightful financial analysis to management, highlighting emerging priorities, opportunities, and potential risks to support effective decision-making. Conduct detailed variance analysis comparing budgets, forecasts, and actual performance. Clearly communicate the key drivers behind variances, provide commentary, and recommend actionable steps to realign performance with business expectations. Respond to management’s ad hoc financial analysis requests, providing accurate and timely data to support business decisions, performance evaluations, and strategic planning. Use data and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, ERP systems) to provide clear insights, enabling faster and more informed decision-making. Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and reporting procedures. Recommend and implement improvements that enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and the overall quality of financial outputs. Adhoc projects and other duties as required by the Finance Manager and Superintendent Accounting; undefined Contribute to the achievement of the broader Finance team goals; Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the heads of departments and their key personnel on site; Expected to understand the business operation to enhance contribution towards value creation. Highlight on any cost saving initiatives and review with management. Provide Management and other stakeholders with necessary adhoc reports to assist them in the valuation of FQMZ performance. Qualifications Diploma/Degree in Accounts & Business Studies, CIMA, ACCA or CA Zambia equivalent. All Academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) Licenses/Certifications: Member of statutory body Experience Minimum of Five (3) years relevant Mining Finance and Accounting experience A high degree of computer literacy (including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Pronto or other major ERP systems).
