Kamanga denies violence, bribery allegations in Chongwe East election petition
Independent Chongwe East Member of Parliament, Anita Kamanga, has denied allegations of violence, bribery and distributing handouts during the 2026 election campaign, telling the Lusaka High Court that residents voted for her because of her community work. Kamanga was testifying in a petition by former Lands and Natural Resources Minister Sylvia Masebo challenging her election as Chongwe East MP. Former Cabinet ministers, Paul Kabuswe, and Sylvia Masebo, have petitioned the Lusaka High Court seeking to overturn their parliamentary election defeats, alleging that their opponents used character assassination, vote buying, intimidation and other electoral malpractice to influence voters.
